We had a late dinner after a concert at the Musikverein. The attention was agreeable without interfering with our privacy. We order goulash and fish, both tasty, paired with Jurtschitsch Rosé from the neighboring Kamptal wine region. The atmosphere of the place gave a lovely Viennese touch to a memorable classical evening.

We were seated immediately upon arrival—no reservation required—and were instantly struck by the beauty and preserved history of the dining room. The service here was among the best we experienced on our entire trip. Our waiter was exceptionally professional: quick, attentive, and consistently present exactly when needed. When it came time for the check, the process was seamless and efficient—a refreshing change of pace from other 'top-tier' establishments in the city where administrative delays and dismissive service have become the unfortunate norm. I made sure to compliment him personally on his efforts. As for the food, both of us had the Butterschnitzel (veal meatballs/patties), which ended up being our absolute favorite dish in Vienna. It is sheer comfort on a plate—perfectly executed. We finished with a slice of Mozart cake, which was delicious, and I tried one of their signature espresso drinks with orange liqueur and crushed pistachios. It was a fun, tasty, and sophisticated way to end a fantastic lunch. For those looking for a historic Viennese experience that combines high-quality traditional food with proactive, respectful service, Café Schwarzenberg is highly recommended. They understand that true hospitality means being present for the guest, not making them feel like a burden.

This is how I expected an older style Viennese cafe to be like - chandeliers, bow tied service staff, grand piano. This place dates back to 1861. We booked for a late Wednesday lunch, but there were plenty of seats available. On the weekend, there was a line waiting. Our server was excellent. I had a spinach/cheese strudel & my partner some sausages. We both enjoyed the food, coffee & the ambience of the place. I wish I could have fitted in 1 of their amazing looking cakes. It was a real birthday treat.

Fun atmosphere. Felt touristy. Coffees were nice if the menu seemed a little convoluted. The desserts were ok. We were looked after well by staff who moved another table of guests to accommodate our two prams. Would recommend for the history/culture.

We went to Vienna post Christmas and the reservation of all restaurants were already sold out! Surprisingly this place was the only option available and I booked it without any second thoughts! This place was crowded when we arrived and they had already reserved a table for us and we were directly taken to that without any wait time. The ambience was good with a kind of 1980ish experience. We ordered a egg benedict, Beef goulash with bread and coffee. The egg Benedict was ok-ish, the sauce was bland and the bread not so soft and tasty. The beef goulash was not good, felt that the meat was undercooked! We also ordered another main course that came with sausage, bread and mustard sauce, which were just okish. The coffee was good! The view from the hotel was laid back and good too. What I didn't like was the service, we called a staff for some immediate attention. He saw us and ignored and went away, as he was not taking care of our table. May be it is just a Viennese coffee culture, but I felt very bad!
